Does my frame need a concrete slab?

Not necessarily. Skeleton Steel Frames are commonly supported on individual footings rather than requiring a full concrete slab.

Common footing options include
01

Concrete pad footings

Simple, proven and widely used

Concrete pad footings Popular choice
  • Cost-effective & commonly used — a simple, reliable footing solution.
  • Minimal concrete required — only individual pads are needed rather than a full slab.
  • Engineered for your site — footing size and depth can be designed to suit ground conditions.
02

Steel stumps / posts

Ideal for uneven or sloping sites

Steel stumps / posts Great for sloping sites
  • Ideal for uneven or sloping sites — allows the frame to be elevated and levelled.
  • Creates clearance below the frame — useful where additional ground clearance is required.
  • Flexible installation — stump height and footing design can be adapted to suit the site.
03

Concrete-free footing systems

Fast installation with minimal site disturbance

Concrete-free footing systems Concrete-free option
  • No concrete required — eliminates the need for traditional concrete footings.
  • Fast installation — reduces excavation, concrete work and curing time.
  • Minimal site disturbance — a great option where reducing ground impact is important.

Which footing system do I need?

The best footing solution depends on your site conditions, soil, levels and intended use. Footing requirements can be determined as part of your engineering package.
